Sarah’s Story
Sarah’s food journey started like many of us: confused.
As a teenage competitive athlete in a thin sport, Sarah faced both performance-based and social pressures around body size but had limited nutrition information beyond what was being written in the 2003 issues of Women’s Health and Teen People (spoiler: it wasn’t great).
For many of us, fostering a healthy relationship with food is more difficult than ever before due to the sheer volume of nutrition information and harmful body messaging available at our fingertips. Sarah is deeply passionate about helping teens and women find food freedom without sacrificing years (or decades) of their lives to unsustainable, ineffective, and dangerous behaviours.
In her 30s, Sarah’s passion for women’s health grew as she journeyed to motherhood. Sarah knows firsthand what it is like to experience irregular menstrual cycles, hormonal acne, uncomfortable bloating, and other confusing hormonal symptoms. Sarah is a nutrition expert in many areas of women’s health, including fertility, pregnancy, post-partum, PCOS, and menopause.
Sarah is also a lifelong athlete and fitness junkie, currently in her “quick workout while baby naps” era. Sarah loves running, resistance training and anything that gets her out in nature, including hiking, biking, kayaking, and swimming.
Sarah’s credentials include a BASc in Nutrition and Food and an MHSc in Nutrition Communications, both from Toronto Metropolitan University. Sarah’s dietetic training included a 40-week competitive dietetic internship in clinical and community settings. Sarah began her career as an inpatient clinical dietitian working in medicine, gerontology, and respirology. She then moved into a public health dietitian role focusing on food insecurity in Northern Ontario before founding The Nutrition Hub.
Sarah is committed to lifelong continuing education and stays up-to-date on emerging research and clinical practice guidelines to offer optimal care.
Sarah is also a foodie who loves cooking and baking, a mother to an amazing daughter and three adorable pets (2 cats, 1 dog), fitness junkie, book lover, and avid Northern Ontario explorer.

What is a Dietitian?
To use the title Registered Dietitian (RD), dietitians must be registered with the dietetic regulatory body in the province in which they practice. Dietitians undergo comprehensive and rigorous training, both on the job and in university. Dietitians are held accountable to the highest standards of education and ethics.
Dietitians translate the science of nutrition into terms you can understand. They unlock food’s potential and support healthy living for their patients, clients, and communities. A dietitian would not just hand you a diet or a list of foods not to eat and send you on your way or promote or sell you unnecessary food or supplements. Dietitians look beyond fads and gimmicks to deliver reliable, life-changing advice tailored to your objectives, personal needs, and challenges.
As with any healthcare provider, it is important to find a dietitian that is a good fit for you. There are many incredible dietitians who practice in specialized areas and offer virtual province-wide services. Explore Find a Dietitian and HealthProfs to see dietitians in your province or region.
